Printing

Converting your artwork to curves or paths is a common practice when supplying your artwork to a printing company. This is because fonts are not always compatible or available across different computers and software. If you do not convert your fonts to curves or paths, the printing company may not be able to open or print your artwork correctly, and the fonts may have been substituted, corrupted which could cause your artwork to be incorrect and cost you an expensive re-run.

It also means that you are changing the text from editable characters to graphic shapes. This way, the printing company can view and print your artwork without needing the original fonts installed on their system.

Please read through the Help Illustrator Colour seperation guidelines which offers a great insight into how to colour seperate to make your artwork set up easier for your printer - https://helpx.adobe.com/africa/illustrator/using/printing-color-separations.html

Zarlite Foam Manufacturers is an online shop that offers a wide range of custom foam products, flipflops, mousepads, keyrings, games, and more. They manufacture their products using the highest quality foam materials and printing techniques.

To ensure that their products look exactly as intended, they ask their clients to convert their fonts to curves or paths before sending them their artwork.

This is because fonts are not embedded in vector files, such as EPS or AI, and may not be available on the printer’s computer. Converting fonts to curves or paths means that the text is no longer editable, but it preserves the appearance and shape of the letters.
This way, the printer can print the artwork without any font issues or errors. You can convert your fonts to curves or paths in Adobe Illustrator by selecting the text and choosing Type > Create Outlines, or using the keyboard shortcut CTRL-SHIFT-O (for Windows) or CMD-SHIFT-O (for Macs). You can also apply the Effect > Path > Outline Object to the text, which keeps the text editable in Illustrator, but expands it when you export it as a PDF.

Thank you for choosing Zarlite Foam Manufacturers for your custom foam products. We look forward to seeing your artwork and creating your order.
